My name is Leila, I am 62y and I am from South Sudan. The fact that I am alive pretty much says everything about my life. I am lucky J . Being old in Africa means that I have been dodging death since I was born. I didn’t die at birth, I didn’t die from Malaria, I was not killed during the endless years of conflict, I have no idea what diseases I might have, but I am alive, and for that I am grateful and happy! I have seen so many wars, so many suffering, so many deaths, so much poverty that I live everyday as a blessing. I live calmly, I live in peace, I do not rush, and I just take enough food from the earth to eat. I ask nothing from life, so every bits that life gives me, makes me rich. And I am proud of my simplicity, of my origins, of my tribe. I am proud of my work in the fields, and I am proud of my inner peace. I live free, with no expectations, with no plans besides being kind to all that step through my path. I guess that´s the meaning of life: collecting smiles. We are all going to die, and when we will go back to the earth we better leave the world better than we found it. Amongst the wars in my country… I live in peace, and so I live happy. Try to do the same 😉 .
