GC: “So what happened to you?”
BC: “I was shot in the foot!”
GC: “Mmmm… damn… I am sorry to hear that!”
BC. “Its ok… it doesn’t hurt anymore, and I was lucky it was just the foot!”
GC: “And why did you get shot?”
BC: “Just another lost bullet… they were fighting close to my village…”
GC: “And what is your name?”
BC: “Bonne Chance (Good Luck in French)”
GC: “ahahahah…. so thats why you think you were lucky! 😉 “
BC: “We are all lucky if we are still alive! And where are you from?”
GC: “Portugal”
BC: “?”
GC: “Cristiano Ronaldo?”
BC: “Ahhh… We all love him in Burundi!”
GC: “So, what do you want to be when you grow up?”
BC: “Mmm… I dont know…”
GC: “ You must have some ideas”
BC: “I know what I want to do, but I dont know what I want to be.”
GC: “So, what to you want to do?”
BC: “I want to stop the fighting between Hutus and Tutsi! All the problems in Burundi come from that stupid division. I wish these labels didnt exist. Everybody says that one day there will be another Genocide, and we had enough suffering in my country. Do you have Hutus and Tutsis in your country?”
GC: “No, but we have other types of racism and discrimination. Agaisnt blacks, muslims, gypsies, and others….”
BC: “ So, I would be discriminated in the country of CR7?”
GC: “Maybe not openly, and certainly not everybody, but some people would look down to you in their thoughts… I wish I could do something to stop that!”
BC: “So thats what I want to do. To stop discrimination and violence between Hutus and Tutsis, and make everybody in Burundi to stay united as a family. But I dont know how can I do that?”
GC: “Mmmm… You can be an activist or work for an NGO that fights for human rights… Or you can be a lawyer and protect the victims and send to jail the criminals, or you can be a writer and a philosopher and touch people´s hearts and go around Burundi, and tell inspirational stories…”
BC: “I like that last idea of being a writer, tell me more…”
GC: “Well if you can touch people´s hearts you can save your country from another genocide. Use reality mixed with heart, soul, humor, creativity and humanity, and the rest will come.”
BC: “Say no more. I will write with my heart to save my country!”
